So...we're having a discussion here, with no answer that satisfies me.
Because every answer that sits right in my gut says I have to go without.
So I said, that's it. This is a blogging thing...and my dear hubby agreed...so, to ease up on him and my round-abouts about this question, please put your thoughts in the comments...
Thing is: I love the Sunday newspaper.
Thing is: I lived for more than 5 years in a town that didn't have a Sunday paper. When we were out of town on weekends, it was usually at the top of my list to get a Sunday paper.
Thing is: I once again live in a place where one can get a local paper that comes out on Sunday.
Happiness abounds!
I don't want a subscription to the whole week because if I get behind, then it's a chore getting caught up. And can't get rid of them without going through them, that's just a waste. I only really want the Sunday paper.
So, we have been taking turns running into Turkey Hill to get me a paper. Rationalization is that only one of us is breaking the Sabbath then.
See where we're going? And I'm aware, some don't observe Sunday as their Sabbath, but, it's mine, so that's where this is headed...
So I get to thinking, perhaps the paper here has a weekend only option....and then, while I'm thinking about why I only want the weekend, I think, wait! If I get the weekend only, then I'm still making the paper person work on Sunday...
So I ask my husband, which is worse? Handing the clerk at Turkey Hill $1.50...or making the paper person deliver it... He says the clerk at Turkey Hill. I disagree. He's taking exact change from me and putting it in the register...versus the other person driving around in the early hours (agg...waking up early...torture...) and getting it on my doorstep. I think the delivery is making someone work more.
So mulling that over...I bring up, well...we could have 6 quarters and find a newspaper stand thing...he says, yup, we could do that.
Then I say, nope...that doesn't work. The person had to fill it up.
Which leads to the thought (i didn't share this part with him because then he would probably give me a look) of the people who work to get the paper together...
So, technically, in order to have a Sunday OR Monday paper...people have to work to get it together. And in the case of Sunday's paper, to get it to us.
I want my Sunday paper.
I'd rather not be doing the "Your turn..." thing, but....
Color me silly...
Just tell me your thoughts about the best way about getting my Sunday paper...
Unless you're not concerned about the whole keeping the Sabbath day holy thing, because that's just not helpful in this discussion...I respect your opinions, it just won't help me in this instance...

As long as your Sabbath day is about the Lord, I think you can get your paper wherever you want. It's not on you if other people work on Sunday.
:) ha ha! I can see what you mean. I agree with Jaycey that it isn't your fault if other people break the Sabbath for the newspaper. They probably will anyway regardless of you. I would maybe have it delivered if I could though. That way you are paying in advance and not actually ON Sunday.:)
